The FIFA World Cup Stadium Yaroslavl will be built on the site of the home ground of the FC Shinnik Yaroslavl football team, who play in the Russian first division. The Yaroslavl Fan Fest will be held on The Strelka. This is situated at the confluence of the Volga and Kotorosl rivers. This headland is the extension of the most famous park in the city and a popular local recreation area.
