The 2018 FIFA World Cup comes to Yaroslavl

On December 2nd 2010, FIFA awarded its 2018 World Cup to Russia.


This will be the first time a FIFA World Cup has taken place anywhere in Eastern Europe, and specifically Russia.


Yaroslavl will be one of the venues for matches in the 2018 FIFA World Cup., where it will be in the Volga Cluster of cities.


The FIFA World Cup Stadium Yaroslavl will be built on the site of the home ground of the FC Shinnik Yaroslavl football team, who play in the Russian first division. This is located in the centre of the city - and this is almost directly over the road from the Ring Premier Hotel, but most other hotels in Yaroslavl are also within walking distance of the stadium. The Yaroslavl Fan Fest will be held on The Strelka. This is situated at the confluence of the Volga and Kotorosl rivers. This headland is the extension of the most famous park in the city and a popular local recreation area.
